A Note from Ally:
Over the years I have come to believe that Rose Red is more of a puzzle than anyone could have imagined. It was always, as Steve puts it, a “white whale” in psychic research. But beyond being a rare and enigmatic place, I believe it encompasses elements - like puzzle pieces - that span both history and the globe. Rose Red is a mystery on so many levels. And the majority of those levels could never have been solved by exploring the mansion the way Joyce Reardon planned.
The purpose of this site is to both report my day-to-day life on the old Rose Red property and keep an account of my ongoing quest to reach Nick, and to present my research findings about those emerging puzzle pieces. Whether we will ever know the full reach of Rose Red’s mysterious influence I cannot say. But bit by bit we can make discoveries that may help us to more fully understand the property, the lives it touched, and the reasons it seemed to go mad long before the paranormal events on the estate began. I hope that in understanding we can come closer to unraveling the ultimate mystery of Rose Red: what happened to those who disappeared within her, and how to bring them to peace.
Old Site
You may recall my original web site from circa 2002. Archives of what remains can be found here. Please note that due to the wear & tear of time, some data has been lost; you may find images, articles, and entire months of journal entries missing. I wish I could get it all back, but the hosting provider has gone out of business.
Old Site Intro:
My name is Ally O’Sullivan. You’ve probably never heard of me, but you may have heard of my fiance, Nick Hardaway.
If you know of Nick, it’s through his association with Rose Red, the now-demolished formidable Rimbauer mansion that once resided at the top of Spring Street in Seattle, WA. Nick was one of several psychics who journeyed to Rose Red under the direction of Joyce Reardon, a professor at Beaumont University. Their mission was to “awaken” the sleeping beast within Rose Red. From the accounts of the survivors, they succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. Not only did Rose Red wake, she consumed no less than seven people for her last meal. One of those people was my Nick.
Since the movie, released in January 2002, the story of Rose Red has become quite well known. Also, Ellen Rimbauer’s diary, published by Joyce Reardon before her disappearance in Rose Red, is also available for purchase. If you plan to read this site, to learn of Nick’s life and disappearance, and to follow me in my present day return to the site of Rose Red, you should have seen the film (or plan to see it when it’s released on VHS/DVD, tentative date is in mid-May ‘02), and have read Ellen’s diary. I will be referencing both frequently, and while you’re welcome to read these pages if you’re not familiar with the story behind the story, I won’t be rehashing the events that transpired prior to Nick’s fateful weekend in Rose Red. It’s up to you to brush up on your Rose Red “history”.
With this site, I hope to not only preserve Nick’s memory, and to provide more information on the lovely man he was, but to draw each of you into my own personal battle to bring Nick home. I’ve seen him in my dreams, and I know he is not lost forever…
I will give you a brief background on Nick’s life and his unique psychic talents. I will give you a brief background on our life together. I will tell you everything I know of his disappearance, from my own conversations with him prior to his departure for Joyce Reardon’s expedition, and also from discussions with the surviving members of the team. I will keep a fairly current journal and I will ask you, the readers, for your advice and help. It’s my feeling that there are plenty of you out there who know far more than I about the subjects I’ll be discussing–such as hauntings, curses, paranormal phenomena and parapsychology–and I hope that your input will aide me in my quest to help my once husband-to-be rest in peace.
Join me, help me learn. Help me free Nick. Help me free Rose Red!

I am excited to read as much of your site as humanly possible! I have read and reread “Ellen’s Diary”, watched the miniseries, and have seen “Rose Red”. To be honest, I did not know that the Memorial Day Expedition was a real expedition until now!!! I am extremely excited to read your postings and to learn more about your Nick. Thank you for taking your time to share your life.

I loved the movie Rose Red and I agree with the paragraph above that I did not know that Rose Red was a real place until just finding your website. I’m a paranormal investigator and was looking for places to post my website to get more web traffic and came across your page. If you ever have any questions about the paranormal you can contact me at contact@ghosthuntersguild.com. Although we haven’t dealt with anything quite as complex as the Rimbauer mansion, we do have knowledge of the paranormal. I am sorry to hear about Nick and I am sorry to hear that the story is true and that it affected you..
